We begin with two weeks on Thoreau's internationally important essay "Civil Disobedience" and then go on to discuss significant passages from Thoreau's major work, Walden. The course is a chance to examine and discuss the ways we choose to live our lives, and the ways society asks us to live - and the ways these two come into conflict (or not).
